St Bedes Pastoral System

Here at St Bedes we run a very successful pastoral system. The children are split into houses which are named after various saints. Children from reception class through to year 6 are put in a house. Each house has a house teacher and the children meet up every Friday afternoon. These sessions look at children's good work from the week (some are chosen for assembly), talk about birthdays and consider moral and personal issues.

The whole school comes together for a house assembly every Monday morning. In this assembly the children celebrate good work, birthdays and good news. They also talk about and share any sad news they may have. The assembly finishes with the announcement of house point winners.

HOUSE POINTS.

The children receive house points for various things, for example, good work, being polite, extra effort or helping a teacher. These house points are counted up and the best infant, best junior and best class group are presented with trophies. The best overall house fill in a square on a graph for their house. The house with the most squares each term are presented with a bag of sweets to share. Click on the picture of a trophy to see these winner from this week as well as past weeks.

The houses that we have at St Bedes are listed below. For information about that house as well as links to information about the saint click on the house name.

 SCHOOL COUNCIL.

The children have their own School Council, which meets with Mrs Mason at least once every half term. Each Autumn term, elections for the council are held, each class voting for 1 girl and 1 boy. The elected School Councilors then wear their badges all year.

The School Council discusses ideas and problems which have been raised in Circle Time or house groups.
