SAFE, SECURE AND READY TO LEARN

World Book Day & Science Week

The children enjoyed a fantastic World Book Day on Thursday.  They celebrated World Book Day and Science week with an assembly to show off the work they had been doing in their Materials topic, looking at reversible and irreversible changes which was launched with the traditional tale of 'Mr Wolf's Pancakes'.

The children had fun making pancakes - they investigated what happens to the eggy mixture when it is heated and found out that the eggs go through an irreversible change.

This was followed up by looking at the effect of heat on other materials, such as chocolate, jelly and bread.  I think the children will agree that the best part was eating the scrummy pancakes with a super choice of toppings!
The children continued to have a great afternoon with various World Book Day themed activities.  They showed their competitive side in a KS1 World Book Day Bumper Book Quiz with Stephanie and Katie winning the prize of 'Where's Wally' books.  They also designed a book cover for their favourite book - this time the winner was Lauren with her fantastic 'Alice in Wonderland' book cover.
